What happens during an appointment
The first part of the session you tell me about yourself and explain the problem you want to overcome. During this part we also discuss the ways that can help you make the positive changes to your life. The second part of the session is all trance. I don’t get you to talk to me during the trance so you can relax and go as deep as you need. I do work in a fairly deep way. Some people zone out completely and hear nothing at a conscious level, others drift in and out as the unconscious mind does all the work to make the powerful changes to how you think, feel and behave.
What is hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy can help to treat problems by accessing your unconscious mind, which can affect your emotions and behaviours. Unlike other forms of therapy and counselling, which often take months or years to show results, hypnotherapy uses positive suggestion to promote alternative new behaviours, meaning many clients find they are able to make changes even after the first session.
Do you want to lose weight? Stop smoking? Feel more confident in your everyday life? Hypnotherapy can help you to:
- change your eating habits
- stop obsessing about food
- eliminate cravings for cigarettes
- remove fears and phobias
- replace negative beliefs with positive ones
- increase your motivation
- heal past hurts
these are just some of the problems hypnotherapy can be used for. It can help with:
Addictions – Anxiety – Athletic performance – Binge Drinking – Blushing – Childbirth – Childrens Problems – Confidence – Exam Nerves – Fear Of Flying – IBS – Infertility – Incontinence – Insomnia – Jealousy – Nail biting – Panic attacks – Past Relationships – Phobias – Public speaking – Stopping smoking – Stress – Stuttering – Teeth grinding – Weight Management

Will I be put into a trance?
Yes. It is an altered state of consciousness that most people slip in and out of all the time, very similar to daydreaming – for example, when we’re so engrossed in a film that you forget where you are, or when you are driving and you realise you’ve travelled a familiar route for a few miles without being conscious of driving the car.
Will you have control of my mind?
No. Hypnotherapy, contrary to popular belief, is all about you having more control of your own mind. I can help you to reorganise your thoughts, behaviours and beliefs in a more positive way. But if there is something that you do not want to do I can’t make you do it. In fact you get more control of your own mind.
Will I tell you something I don’t want you to know during the therapy?
No. Most of the time clients remain silent during a trance, but even if you do speak, you still have control, and would never say anything you didn’t want anyone to know.
Can anyone undergo hypnotherapy?
Yes, with a few exceptions, as long as you want to enter a trance state, then you can. However, there are different depths of trance and these vary from person to person and also from session to session. But don’t worry – you always have control over your mind, no matter how deep you go and be able snap out of trance if you need to. Exceptions for those on mind altering drugs and also epilepsy sufferers.
Will I need many sessions to see a change?
Most people notice differences after their first session. How many you opt for is up to you, but three is usually recommended – where you learn to change your perceptions, stop old habits, or let go of problems. The more natural it feels, the more relaxed and comfortable you feel.
